Between A Rock And A Hard Planet
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." - Sirius Black
Intuition is the language of our hearts; key to strengthening awareness, self expression, and transforming relationships. These posts are designed to help autonomously guide your path for the month ahead and may resonate more with those identifying with counterpart or soul connections.
This post has been harder to write than any other since I started writing on Substack. I’m not referring to the writing itself, but to the personal energy I’ve had to navigate to reach the point of inspiration, motivation and observational research to write it.
Something has changed and being a keen observer of fluctuating energy, I dug myself out of my unscheduled sofa-time yesterday to hit the books - which is pretty much my answer to everything. With Virgo in my tenth house of legacy and structure, I’m detail-orientated, introverted and care what I put ‘out there’, probably to a fault. Over the several hours that took me into specialist astrology areas and groups with people conversing over waves of apathy, ego death, fatigue and feeling out of control, and comparing several charts to sleuth-out patterns, I witnessed my mind expanding to a whole new level of natal pathways - which burned away my fog.
As my clients are witnessing, I’ve been working closer with their natal charts that form the four pillars of Soulchology with numerology, tarot and lenormand, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Together, they form a Magician-style energy that unites the four elements to uncover their life path with grounded guidance that navigates the energetic waves.
People have been studying the stars for thousands of years. Astrology could be described as a mathematical system that studies the movements and positions of the cosmos to reveal their influence on human affairs and the natural world. It’s one of those subjects that seems to have no ending; a bit like scrolling Pinterest. I’ve previously gained surface knowledge that’s been helpful during sessions, but since the recent eclipse and the subsequent Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, I’ve noticed a massive change in focus. I’ve naturally observed I’m not the only one, but have had my perspective broadened by the significant variation on how we’re individually affected.
Now, I’m not one for checking the transits before I leave the house or send timely emails, but when something is upon me - a change that refuses to be ignored - I find it useful to know how to manage the energy. And, astrology can offer additional confirmation that expedites the awareness and growth we can all work with, rather than feel debilitated by it.
So for those of you who like me, have grand crosses, mystical rectangles and some other hard aspects that challenge you, it can be both comforting and educational to learn of the key factors in your personal chart to activate your individual strategy. Right now, we’ve Neptune conjunct Mars which depending on your own aspects and placements, can leave you with feelings of powerlessness, guilt, shame, and weakness because Neptune can serve as a black hole to Mars' autonomic sense of self.
This planetary knees-up hit the four areas in my chart that houses my grand cross, so it was no wonder I was floored by it. And I didn’t want to talk about it…. hence why I found this post so challenging to write. But I am, because I want to be transparent in how these energies can affect us depending on personal placements, and I’m happy to utilise the dynamics that Uranus privately offers me. Because, it’s what we choose to do with the information that defines us.
So for this month, I’m doing my best to give you the heads up that Pluto will be going retrograde from 3rd May until 12th October, and Saturn 30th June until 16th November. These two planets are notoriously transformational and are home to some deep soul searching around confrontation, shadow work relating to change-resistance, working through fears, learning discipline and needing time alone. With life hitting each of us in different ways, it wouldn’t hurt to get hold of your chart which can be done freely via several online resources, and check where they land for you. Forewarned is forearmed and all that because it could mean the difference between feeling inspired or feeling isolated.
The only other thing I want to add before I leave you to navigate May, is to be aware of the Tarot guidance for the few weeks ahead, which naturally reflect planetary movement. And I want to add, that prior to drawing collective guidance, I do my own reading to decipher and separate my own energy from the readership; creating an energetic Venn diagram if you like, that enables me to write with perspicuity. I had to feel the communicative confusion, resulting in procrastination and emotional difficulties to enable me write this, because the guidance is empathetic in broadening our perspective to walk not just month ahead, but our life paths as a whole.
Emotions such as anxiety and despondency are a useful forced pause, however uncomfortable, to slow us down from the epic travelator we’re all walking so we can remain aligned with our soul paths.
Tarot and Lenormand are asking us to reassess where we felt disempowerment in our youth that continues to weigh heavily, and contribute to a sense of time running out in achieving what our heart desires. I’m being shown worry, a crossroads, and ideas that only leave the drawing board to end up on the cutting room floor, because whatever was robbed in childhood has left behind some limited thinking. These ideas need life, not dust. I’m seeing the unearthing of karmic pathways which are now being brought into the light to diffuse with love and gratitude for the growth, and the new beginnings that are being born as a result of.
So let’s all pop a cork to wherever expansive Jupiter and rebellious Uranus are sitting in your charts, because the effects are going to last a while. As the two planets are clinking glasses and cosying up, they’re leaving us mere mortals with a wave of expansive rebellion, creativity, innovation and exploration. Expect old ideas to come around again together with new ways of bringing them into reality. These rapid changes and methods of navigation will depend on your own personal life path, but you’re guaranteed to be feeling a restless desire to push past previous limitations, either by mindset, or via external means. And because the party is happening in Taurus, we can be sure of grounded changes that leave a material imprint designed for years to come.
There will be times when you feel lost, confused, lonely and angry. However, these are times of transition and as with all emotions, they ebb and flow but serve as messengers to treat with compassion. You are transitioning to a better, stronger version of yourself; shedding away layers you no longer need.
Keep going. Keep growing.

- Albus Dumbledore
