The perfect timing of a reflection I failed to outrun
Procrastinating on what… and for what?
Considering a nutshell strategy to bring grounding
It never fails to leave me in awe as to the various ways in which the forecasts present themselves in reality, for each and every one of us.
I’m hoping you’re all having a better experience than I currently am because the cards coupled with the fact I’m in my life path 5 year in Pythagorean numerology, means change is upon me and I can’t outrun it. Which ‘shouldn’t’ come as too much of a shock being as the changes started with the Wheel of Fortune a few weeks ago.
Except, it is a shock.
Last week’s cards were the Queen of Wands reversed with the Anchor, the Six of Pentacles with the Letter, and the Devil reversed with the Crossroads.
In one paragraph, this is exactly how they showed up for me:
The pain and suffering inflicted onto me by the essential women in my childhood, led to such a level of destabilisation, the emotional battering became entrenched in my body (Queen Wands reversed with Anchor). The battle to let go of the deep suffering has taken its toll and resulting in a recommendation for major surgery planned end of next month (Six Pentacles and Letter can often indicate a Doctor and diagnosis). The Devil reversed with the Crossroads has left me with a choice as to how I want to proceed, but given I feel I have little to no option if I don’t want to procrastinate (see next week’s forecast pulled before writing this), I’m now in a place of processing those unhealthy relationship attachments, confronting the abject fear I have around anything medical, and working on a new level of liberation from the emotional wounding.
Yes I know that was heavy.
But as I’m walking the talk with you I feel it’s prudent to share that I’m sat on a metaphorical spike right now heavily practicing all the tools I’ve learned to get through the day with crushing anxiety.
So for whatever you’re currently experiencing in your own life, and whilst it may not be the same flavour, know I see you.
I’ll leave this reflection on this note: I’ve been wondering why despite my knowledge and abilities, I’ve not been able to change the outcome of my fate. It’s become my belief this life isn’t about doing that, but it is about being in flow and breathing through every moment regardless. With many previous cards yelling at us to surrender, it’s not difficult to see why clinging to resentment and control is so detrimental to us on every level. And, that it will catch up.
I believe we incarnate with predetermined experiences to master, and that to better understand our light, we must travel in the darkness and despair to find our sense of the right we lost in the dark. I believe we must learn to:
observe other’s behaviour without letting them influence our own; how others choose to behave is always going to be about their internal experiencing
notice how our thoughts and feelings are separate from us and thus learn to not let them determine our behaviour by always acting from our inherent values
continuously treat our minds, body and soul with the utmost self compassion to manage and let go of emotional pain before other people’s pain becomes our own.
Even if it takes a life time to master - it’ll be worth it.
“If you’re not in the arena also getting your ass kicked, I’m not interested in your feedback.”

What is guiding us this week?
Top | Oppositions by Pierluca Zizzi & Michele D’Aloisio: 1. Knight of Pentacles reversed, 2. Ace of Cups reversed, 3. Bottom of Deck: Ace of Wands.
Bottom | Lenormand by Rana George: 1. Sun, 2. Fox, 3. Bottom of Deck: Bear.
Before you read the following, it’s important to note I wrote next week’s forecast and quotes before I’d had ‘the Doctor chat’ and the reflection of above. And I’m so glad time conspired to bring it about in this order because my own words are now providing comfort and guidance for me when I need them the most. Oh the irony. I hope for wherever you’re at, they bring you as much guidance and also meet you where you’re at.
1. Where are we this week?
The Knight of Pentacles can indicate variations of a calling to bring commitment, order and schedule to your day. Where have you been procrastinating? What has become mundane? Maybe life has become a treadmill of monotony; sticking to the rules, conforming and dancing to others’ tunes may have left you feeling you have little choice or that you’re going nowhere. Where’s the enjoyment in your life? Have you become unadventurous or resistant to making changes you’ve felt have been needed for some time? When we feel we lack control for the bigger stuff in our lives, we can sometimes become overly controlling in the areas we feel are within our management, but don’t really matter in the grand scheme. If this rings a bell, what are you focusing on in such minute detail, that’s sucking all your time leaving precious little for the actual thing that lights you up? For being in the moment? What is that thing that is pulling at you but is being met with resistance? The Sun promises an optimistic outcome and brings power to all situations that leave you feeling diminished.
2. For what reason?
The cup is the Grail; the chalice of life and complete cure for all evil. It is to be used for yourself and others; bringing powerful new awareness for beginnings. Currently, you may be feeling you’re right out of compassion for something - is it for yourself, something that happened recently or in the past, or for someone who wronged you? We’ve all heard that repressed feelings hurt only us in the long run and that beating ourselves up does nothing to correct a situation. But forgiveness is a word that isn’t easily embraced by everyone and holds many strands of painful challenges. The Fox is asking you to be discrete yet strategic to bring an honourable solution to a risky or difficult situation.
3. Bottom of the deck card reinforces the focus
From the depths of your somewhere, a spark is being reignited that will move your chalice back to the upright position. The metaphorical wheels have come off something but you’re being given an opportunity this week to engage with the momentum, inspiration and opportunity to either stick them back on, or fashion new ones. Regain your personal authority and assert yourself to overcome the areas in which you know you’ve been sidelining.
The Nutshell
Refusing to act, or dragging our feet over something that requires action over passivity, will cause more damage in the long run. Whatever it is that’s generating big emotion requires your focus now and the new wave of energy coming in is backing you to reach your potential in this situation.
Follow your instincts. You may have been feeling lacklustre for as long as you can remember about something, but drawing attention inward now to what really lights your touchpaper, what is the first thing you can do that draws on your willpower?
Be strategic. But - do your best to park any remnants of ego that’s got an opinion and wants in on the action. How has your ego previously played a part in those wheels coming off, and how can you now bring openness and generosity forward to take the first steps in healing something that has been hard to bear?
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”
- Maya Angelou
Shower Thoughts to ACT on…
Learn to say no. Practice being assertive. Despite discomfort, you have every right to refuse something that leaves you uncomfortable. If for example you’re refusing someone’s request, you may first choose to validate them by saying, “I understand why you want me to…” and then lead with your preference; “…but I would prefer not to”. You don’t need to give a reason.
You are not your thoughts. We all have thoughts and feelings which are almost 24/7, especially if you’re a lucid dreamer! However, can you notice the separation between you and what you think and feel; that they’re forever passing through? You had thoughts ten years ago, last week, today and tomorrow. Grab a piece of paper and place all your most painful thoughts and feelings on to it. Just as you are not the piece of paper, you are not your most painful judgement either. It is separate from you. Become aware that you are not what you think.
Where are you off to? Despite your perceived desire, reaching something that really matters to you involves taking one step at a time, one moment at a time, one day at a time. What direction are you walking in? What is your next step?
