A reflection on how last week’s cards came to life
Releasing the past: a look at the reciprocal energy for the next seven days
Three things to consider and shower thoughts to ACT on
Last week was guided by powerful conversations that promoted healthier decisions, and when I looked back over the post to write this week’s, I couldn’t help but marvel at the accuracy of the ‘five things to consider’; emphasising the power of the collective energy and why I’m doing this. Whether you’re new here or remember last week’s forecast, it’s been a turbulent ride that started with the Wheel at the end of April.
In my own life it’s been feeling rather like a bad 80s soap opera complete with wobbly walls and a flimsy set. A new tarot deck bowled in last week like the Three Little Pigs and with one puff blew my ‘set’ down. Both the Ace and Queen of Swords with accompanying Crossroads continued to demand I change direction using a healthier ratio of logic over emotion because what I’d been attempting to manifest for half a decade was failing to happen. The Magician arrived to remind me of all the qualities I possess for an alternative path, despite the continuation of a powerful emotional roller-coaster wrestling with rejection and an undermining of faith in what I knew to be true.
I know I’m not alone.
As with the iconic 1998 film ‘Sliding Doors’, often the route we think will lead us to our ideal destination may not be the one that is aligned with our highest good, and if only we’d kick back and surrender to what will be, rather than struggle to make it all happen on our own watch.
This is not as straight-forward as we’re often led to imagine. Us humans need to feel in control and we peddle furiously toward the ideal we have a white-knuckle grip of. With signs everywhere that point to us being on the right path, when ‘it’ doesn’t materialise, we can be left feeling hopeless and doubting our beliefs or faith.
There’s been a theme on my sofa for the last couple of weeks with clients also reaching pivotal moments that require them to navigate an impasse. Whilst the flavours vary, the spiritual message has been consistent; love thyself first.
When we ‘fail’ to get what we want, it’s often because in some way, we aren’t ready to receive it. Yeah, I had to put the kettle back on for that one too.
Life is perfectly designed in accordance with what our soul set out to master. When we learn how to view ourselves with context, i.e. create a bridge of pause between patterns of reaction and our values-guided response, we gather the information we need to move forward but from a place of compassion for our unhealed wounds rather than trying to win the race against pain and fear.
When what we’re looking for seems thwarted, it’s often purposefully hidden from us until our heart opens from hurts of the past. Paradoxically, when the clarity of the double-edged Ace of Swords slices into our reality, we may see that our ideal may merely be on hold; ours all along but waiting for when we’re ready to nurture it with the experiential wisdom we were yet to gain.
And - if the thing you wanted for so long remains out of reach, by the time you’ve deepened the relationship with yourself and discovered new levels of self awareness, you may even find you no longer hold the ideal in quite the same esteem you did previously. Only surrendering to the clock of universal time will tell.
“How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you.”

What is guiding us this week?
Top | Radiant Wise Spirit Tarot: 1. Queen of Wands reversed, 2. Six of Pentacles, 3. Bottom of Deck: The Devil reversed. Bottom | Lenormand by Rana George: 1. Anchor, 2. Letter, 3. Bottom of Deck: Crossroads.
Using my simple layout, the week ahead is a continuation of the theme that reiterates breaking free of that which limits us, albeit with a slight plot-twist:
1. What are we learning to do?
When upright, the Queen of Wands refers to one of the most vivacious energies in the archetypal journey. One of charisma, intelligence, creativity and beauty, she is a light that many aspire to.
However, this Queen in reverse often re-encounters those, or similar, from your past that attempted to steal some of that light. As a consequence, you may currently find yourself walking amongst those that are hurting; who project their unhealed wounds onto you in order for you to face your own past challenges and rebuild your definition of yourself with confidence.
Be aware of temptation or influence by those who wish you to fall in to their same place of negativity. As the saying goes; ‘misery likes company’. Breathe love into the places that feel fatigued and don’t be tempted to succumb to self-wounding or sabotage driven by the energy of those around you. The accompanying Anchor brings a further push for willpower, resilience and persistence in stabilising yourself. Choose self-respect by expressing your truth with dignity, even if it differs to the opinions of others.
2. For what reason are we learning this?
The Six of Pentacles is the card of reciprocation and coupled with the Letter and the Queen of Wands reversed, calls into question where you need to communicate your balance between give and take. Where may you be over-giving with perceived compensation or apology for purely being yourself? Where might you have developed this emotional response?
Be astute of entering into any contractual obligations of any nature this week where responsibility is not in equilibrium. You may find yourself sharing your knowledge or experience to help others and indeed, sharing with an open heart naturally lifts us in return, but be mindful of where you give to those who are only interested in taking.
Being over-responsible leads to depletion, martyrdom and the removal of other’s life lessons. You may find yourself doing the lion’s share if you’re in a position of dependency creating an inequality in some way. Ensure there is a mutual agreement where your balance, dignity and respect is upheld.
3. Bottom of the deck card reinforces the focus
The good news is that with all of the above combined with the Devil reversed and the repetition of the Crossroads from last week, there is a much-needed release around adverse detachments and beliefs that has promoted you to give more of yourself than is fair, and a call for you to examine why.
For a time you may have been giving into short term avoidant pleasures at the cost of your longer term plan, or even abandoning the person you want to be altogether to keep misplaced peace. Something you’ll recognise as your body sensations never lie when you’re living a values and needs-opposed life.
It feels as though much is being laid out on the table now and light is being shone into the darker places you’ve previously not wanted to venture. Maybe fear has been at the origin, but whatever your root is, you’ve got a grip of it now and are pulling it up. For too long you’ve felt as though your hands are tied, but when you look up with courage and grace, take one conscious step forward after another, before you know it, a day of new behaviour has turned into a month of healthier choices.
“A spiritual journey is not so much a journey of discovery but a journey of recovery.
It’s a journey of uncovering your own inner nature. It’s already there”.
- Billy Corgan
Three things to consider this week…
Breaking the chains. Where may you disentangle yourself from others’ efforts to victimise or enslave you out of past ills or conditioning? Where has this led you down a path of serving, or pleasing, from feelings of unworthiness or resentment? What has this cost you, or will continue to cost you if you pursue the same path?
A healthy exchange. Where can you remain in choice; generously sharing and serving those that matter to you, whilst remaining mindful of doing it for the right reasons? How can you give, whilst also receiving what you need? And, what can you let go of now that meets your most foundational need for stability in all senses?
Connection. Where may you sincerely lead others to authentically express their vision whilst upholding self-confidence and an unshakeable belief in your personal value?
Shower Thoughts to ACT on…
A Light in the Dark (Queen of Wands reversed)
Compassion is like a soft light glowing inside you. If you could shine this light on the parts of you that you’d normally reject, what would that feel like now?Living by Example (Six of Pentacles)
What do you want people in your life to remember about you? In what small way can you show them that this week?Receiving Wisdom (Devil reversed)
Bring to mind someone you respect or someone that’s made a positive impact on your life. What wisdom, knowledge, or advice might this person share with you that could benefit you now?
