Q+A: What is preventing me from creating the legacy I envisage?
I'm a successful leader but my strategy is no longer working for me. What is behind my frustration and lack of personal direction?
This post is answering a reader’s question with guidance that gets to the root of their challenge. Q+A posts are written to inspire a break in isolating thought patterns and develop confidence in your own intuitive craft.
Q.
I’m someone that works hard, I provide, have solid business sense and structure and would class myself as successful. I keep my head down and concentrate on the end goal. I’ve always known what I want and achieve what I put my mind to. However, I’ve come to question my greater purpose, or legacy, but I don’t feel myself - so I’m stuck and action-less. Why have I hit a wall and arrive back at the same point I started at, which is to do nothing? I’m frustrated and feel time is running out.

“Those who stand for nothing will fall for anything.” - Alexander Hamilton
A strong conviction of who you are and what you stand for has been your drive through life. You’re someone who’s passionate yet serious, grounded, committed and reliable. You’ve likely reached seniority in your life by following the same path of logic and dependability, which has become your identity and sense of security. So any deviation from the path you’ve defined for yourself would lead you to detach from certain beliefs or ideals causing you to question who you are.
The horse carrying the Knight of Wands leaps backwards with no bridge between the two land points, indicating a risk at play that has a third party element to it, or hints to a collaboration with someone else - indicated by the anchor artwork housing the Three of Pentacles arch from Rider Waite.
The root to your frustration lies in the centre line that reads like a story: there was an ending with something or someone from the past that held emotional value in favour of retaining a material gain and/or business focus. Maybe it was complicated and you made the best decision at the time. Regrets are futile. However the emotional connection had charge, but never left the ground as it was nipped in the bud before it had chance to flower. What part of you did this person reflect within yourself?
It appears you’ve been ruminating on this loss for a long time as indicated by the virtuous Lilies. However you’re now in a position of choice. Ask yourself, ‘Can I change this?’ ‘Can I accept this?’ or ‘Can I leave this?’ You can either continue to carry the burden of a choice made and avoid your personal truth behind this connection, or face the reasons for the emotional tie-cutting along with the root history behind your decision. You’re always in choice and not making one is still a choice. You’re being asked to commit to initialising change by starting a healing conversation indicated by both the Page of Swords and the Letter together.
Your email did not disclose any matters of an emotional nature but your reading indicates a powerful stalemate that is dominating your “normal” Knight of Wands energy in moving forwards with spontaneity and ambition. However the Cross that lies with the King of Pentacles is karmic or has influences in fate that indicate a balance between your physical and spiritual world that are not being met. Where can you identify an error in judgement and take steps now to positively transition that enables personal growth?
The Six of Pentacles shows you’ve reached a time in your life that sharing, or prioritising reciprocity in some way has become incredibly important to you. It is my sense that the person you severed ties with is featuring heavily in your vision but because of the emotional connection you feel with this person, is now throwing your well oiled logic-machine of survive and thrive off kilter. Where can your boundaries be revisited or renewed that enable the continuity of safety, yet allow exploration into the unknown? These feelings may be resurfacing old wounds where you learned to rely on yourself at the expense of building emotional connection, as indicated by the Nine of Wands and the Fox. The Fish ask you to consider the true value of materialism because the things that bring us emotional value are often worthless on paper. Now is the time to explore any beliefs you have around emotional connections equaling pain and taking steps to heal.
Strategy has always been your go-to, but because your current challenge lies in the confrontation of an emotional root, this strategy is unlikely to continue as a successful plan because you’re not coming from your heart space, and that is what is preventing you from creating the change you envisage. Heart blocks indicate powerful stuff and are even more intense if they form part of a soul agreement that may be coming into play.
We’re currently in a numerological 7 year that requires all of us to be truthful, initiating and balanced in how we choose to live. You’ve been in a place of deep questioning for a while, and this will lead you to make meaningful choices, however the 7 also carries divine mystery and no answer is promised. But you can ask. When you ask, you’re curious and are open to hearing the words of another that are outside of the presupposed story-telling of the mind that is responsible for the loop of assumed consequence. Now is the time to question your long held beliefs and where you react vs respond, but from a place of strengthening who you are, not undermining it.
Something new doesn’t always mean out with the old. That something new can live alongside quite peacefully when our minds are open and we remain curious and open with acceptance. Not everything needs to be changed, but simply expanded.
A new level of consciousness and understanding can only be gained when you are willing to let go of what no longer serves the evolution of your soul’s purpose, so with self compassion, you could consider:
Defining who you are and working to strengthen your internal sense of what matters to you on a heart level.
Allowing yourself to be open to hearing or learning something new from the soul of another. New ideas, emotional revelations and insights do not destroy your identity or purpose - they help build it.
To what, where and who is your most innovative and entrepreneurial part of your soul calling you now, and to what of your emotional values do those point to?
